Uploading Flat file in SAP HANA

In this document, I'm trying to explain “how to upload a Flat file in SAP HANA”

1. Choose Start all programs and select SAP HANA STUDIO

2. From content menu select Import, expand the SAP HANA Content directory and select Data from Local File and choose Next.

3. In the Flat File upload Screen, browse for the file which should be uploaded into SAP HANA database. If a header row exists in the flat file, select Header row exists and enter row number and select check for Import all data.

From the target table, Choose New and select SULABH schema and entered Work_Distribution as table name.

4. In the Manage table definition and data mapping screen, it’s possible to map the source and target column.
Note: It’s required to select a key

5. It’s possible to preview the data based on the flat file screen and select finish to finalize the creation process.

6. Now, we can view created table (Work _Distribution) in SULABH schema.

User management in SAP HANA studio

In this document, I will explain how to create users, granting role to user, assigning Privileges and other functionality that comes under the User Management in SAP HANA.

1. Launch the SAP HANA studio.
2. In the navigator, select Security and choose Users.
3. From the context menu, Right click on Users and choose NEW

4. Specify the Username and Authentication information

5. You can grant roles and privileges (SQL/Object privileges, Analytic privileges, System privileges and Package privileges) to user.
To assign privileges, choose the
button. Type a name to find a catalog object (e.g Sulabh, Efashion Tutorial, _SYS_BI/_SYS_BIC, _SYS_REPO).

SQL Privileges

SQL Privileges are used to restrict access to and modification of database objects, such as tables. Depending on the object type (for example, table, view), actions (for example, CREATE ANY, ALTER, DROP) can be authorized per object. SQL Privileges are assigned to users and roles.

System Privileges

System privileges are used for performing system – level operations or administrative tasks. System Privileges are assigned to users and roles (User Admin, Role Admin, Data Admin, Backup Admin, Data Import/Export, Schema management and others)

Package Privileges

Package privileges are used to restrict the access to and the use of packages in the repository of the SAP HANA database. Packages contain design-time versions of various objects, such as Analytic, Attribute, and Calculation Views as well as Analytic Privileges and functions. To be able to work with packages, the respective Package Privileges must be granted.

On the appropriate package privilege tab. To assign privileges, choose the
button. Type a name to find a catalog object (e.g Sulabh, Root package).

Analytical privileges

Analytical privileges are used to restrict the access for read operations to certain data in Analytic, Attribute, and Calculation Views by filtering the attribute values. Analytical privileges can only applied at the processing time of the user query. Analytic Privileges need to be defined and activated before they can be granted to users and roles.

On the appropriate analytical privilege tab. To assign privileges to user, choose the
button. Type a name to find a catalog object.

6. Grant role to User

Switch to tab Switch to tab “Granted Roles” in User Editor. To assign roles to user, choose the
button. Start typing the role name as well add the role Allow/disallow granting the role.

7. Choose on deploy to save user in SAP HANA system.

Creating a system on SAP HANA studio

In this document, I'm trying to explain “how to add system to user accessing SAP HANA system through SAP HANA Studio”.

SAP HANA studio is a collection of applications for the SAP HANA appliance software. It enables technical users to manage the SAP HANA database, to Create and Manage User Authorizations, and to Create new or Modify existing Models of data in the SAP HANA database. It is a client tool, which can be used to access local or remote SAP HANA databases

1. Choose Start all programs and select SAP HANA STUDIO

 2. Right click on Navigator to Add a system

3. Specify hostname as xxxxxSTD and system number xx and continue pressing Next button

4. Select Authencation by Database user. Enter Username: SAPFOX and Password: xxxxxxxxxx and press next.

And click on Finished .Now, you can see your system in Navigator on SAP HANA Studio.

Navigator View
After the system has been integrated on the left side of the SAP HANA Studio we will find the Navigator View. Navigator view is a view of the database objects in SAP HANA, both those objects that have been activated and not activated. There are three sub-nodes in Navigator view, Catalog, Security and Content.

The Catalog represents SAP HANA’s database objects that have been activated. The objects are divided into schemas, which is a way to organize activated database objects.

Security contains the roles and users defined in the system.

Content contains design-time database objects (Activated/inactivated)
